Carlile Unit
The Carlile Unit

The Carlile Unit is the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Pines oldest unit. Located in its own facility at
1500 Positive Place, the Carlile was named after the Carlile family. The Club was founded by Steve and Ken Carlile in 1992, in fact, there has never been a time when a Carlile was not on the Board of Directors. The entire family's involvement with the Club and service to the kids has been tremendous.
Today, due to the 21st Century Grant, the Carlile Unit will exclusively
serve teens primarily from Marshall Jr. High and Marshall High School. Transportation is available at no cost from MJHS. [Click here] for a transportation form

So now that we are a teen center, what is different?
- Fees. the fees are the same - it is $25 for the entire school year.
- Hours. because we know teens are working or participating in sports or going through tutorials or college prepping.... well, we will stay open until 9pm M-F (assuming there are enough teens staying that late) to accommodate our teens.
- Focus. We have three distinct goals for our teens

- High School Graduation
- Development of Job Skills
- Life after the Club (college, military, or trade school)
- Programming. We are getting the teens to help us do our classes, and tell us what is appealing to them. We will definitely still offer passport to manhood, smartmoves, and the likes, but we will also have cooking, hip hop dance, and photography based upon teen responses.
- GET OUT! We plan upon using our van. We need our teens to see the world, to see
colleges, and to gain new experiences.
