Jefferson Elementary Unit
This unit opened during the school year in 2007.
As of Monday March 19, 2012 we will be located in the Jefferson Elementary School. WOO HOO!
A typical day in a school based site will be:
3:00 The Bell Rings
The kids go to the Elementary School Portables (on the north side of the campus).
The kids get homework help first through a program we call Power Hour.
The kids will then get a snack.
After that it is up to the teacher, but it is always a mix of physical activity and HYLA-High Yield Learning Activities
Physical activity is as you imagine it, games, basketball, playground, kickball, frisbee... whatever - but something to keep our kids moving.
Other mental enrichment might include art, music, sing alongs, science projects, or some of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America's fantastic programs.
SPECIFICS
- The Club meets daily from 3pm - 6pm in the Elementary School Portables.
- The cost is $40 per month. This not only gets you the instruction, but makes you a member of the Club. This means that during the extended school breaks when the main unit in Marshall is open, your children can attend at no cost.
- The Club has a dfps-approved tiered schedule to assist families that might need some help.
- To sign up, parents need to fill out a Club Membership Application and get it to the Club via fax, email, or in person.
